Thank you for your interest in GREES. On this page you will find all required information on the procedure.
An overview of all advertised scholarships can be found here. Since basic knowledge of the german language is required to apply for the scholarship, this page is not translated. Scholarships will only be granted on advertised jobs.
The graduate school has an international focus, thus we welcome applications from foreigners in english/german. The approval process to become a PhD student in GREES is standardized, the current Doctoral Degree Regulations of the University of Stuttgart do apply.

Required documents
All requriements should be merged into a single pdf-document. This documents must include the following documents in the stated order:
- Application form
- CV
- Letter of motivation wich includes the approach to the applied research topic
- University masters degree including all grades
- Optional: Relevant certificates and awards
- Certificate of sufficient german and english knowledge (e.g. TOEFL, TestDaF, ...), as long as it is not the native language
- Optional: Letter of recommendation from a professor
- Pdf Version of your master/diploma thesis
Selection procedure
The selection is done by the respective institute as well as GREES. After a successfull interview and fulfillment of all application requirements, the scholarship is granted by the head of the graduate school. The GREES scholarship starts at the first of a month and lasts up to four years.
The University of Stuttgart is keen on increasing the share of women in the scientific field and is thus especially interested in apllications of women. Severely disabled applicants with equal qualification will be given preferential consideration.
